The best amateur teams in Europe will be battling for a spot in the finals and recognition by the pro organizations.

After weeks of tough competition, the EU Masters tournament has reached the semi-finals, with just four teams remaining to battle for the top spot. Let’s take a look at the matches we have coming up.
Semi-final One - Origen vs MAD Lions E.C.
Origen, that fan favourite team comprised of several very big names in League of Legends, has not had the easiest time in this tournament. Getting off to a rough start, they finished their group stage 2-1, setting up a tie-breaker round robin. Luckily for the team, they were able to win the tie-breaker round fairly easily, sending them straight to the quarterfinals match against the Ninjas in Pyjamas. After taking down NiP 2-1, they are set to face off against MAD Lions E.C. for a spot in the Grand Final.
MAD had a much easier time in the tournament, finishing their group stage with a perfect 3-0 record to give them an automatic bye to the quarterfinal round. There, they faced off with KlikTech, defeating them 2-0 to set up their match with Origen. Having yet to lose a map this tournament, MAD stand poised to play spoiler to a team that many assumed would dominate this event.
Semi-final Two – GamersOrigin vs Illuminar Gaming
GamersOrigin was another team with a very easy run so far. Much like MAD, GOG won their group stage with a perfect record to send them to the quarterfinals, where they faced off against exceL eSports. Once more defeating xL with a perfect 2-0 record, GOG stand to face off once again with Illuminar Gaming, a team they had previously shared their group stage with.
Illuminar Gaming are the scrappy team of the remaining four. Finishing their group stage 1-2, they had to battle hard to earn their spot in the semi-finals. Their first match in playoffs against Movistar Riders saw them narrowly claim victory 2-1, followed by their quarterfinal bout against Millenium which they also narrowly won, 2-1. Having played the most games of the final four, no-one can say they are unprepared for the challenges of playing on the big stage, however their matches haven’t shown a lot dominance, something they’ll need to claim victory here.
The semi-final matches will be played this coming weekend, and will be broadcast on the Official Riot Games Twitch channel, here.
