RESULTS: Origen Claim Ultimate Victory in the EU Masters Tournament

Normally this kind of amateur event wouldn’t get a whole lot of attention, outside of talent scouts and team owners looking to pick up fresh blood for their teams. With the appearance of a veritable super squad of veterans players joining the action however, it’s no wonder the EU Masters became the must see event of the off-season. Battling their way through the bracket, the two final teams remaining duked it out to claim possession of title and trophy, though some might wonder if the outcome was ever really in doubt.

The first game wasn’t quite the blow-out people may have been expecting, with both teams putting up quite the fight in the battle for the title. Origen leveraged their superior individual skills to control the pace and flow of the match, with Konstantinos-Napoleon "FORG1VEN" Tzortziou showing his dominance in the AD Carry position. Illuminar tried their best to keep up by targeting neutral objectives, however it was Origen who took the lions share, securing three Dragons, the Rift Herald, and three Baron Buffs to Illuminar’s two Dragons.

The second game was much closer, as Illuminar Gaming realised the best way to keep Origen from getting ahead would be to play safe and leave no openings to be capitalized on. This strategy worked in part, with the kill differential remaining much lower, however Origen still heavily controlled the neutral game, claiming three Dragons, the Rift Herald, and two Barons to Illuminar’s single Dragon and Elder Dragon.

The third match once more saw FORG1VEN break loose and showcase his claim to “best AD Carry EU”, dominating the bot lane of Illuminar. Support Jesse "Jesiz" Le played a key role in this match, though it was often overshadowed by his team mates more flashy plays. The neutral game was once more dominated by Origen, claiming three Dragons and the Baron to Illuminar’s single Dragon and Rift Herald.

After three relatively quick games, Origen hoisted high the trophy as the winners of the EU Masters. What remains for the team now is unclear, with it being unlikely the team will remain together in its current form. What we can see from this event, is that these players are more than capable of coming together in a very short time and working in sync, something that will undoubtedly help their value as the teams begin their off-season roster shuffles.
