RESULTS: Boston Uprising Maintain Dominance over Los Angeles Valiant

A close match between the Boston Uprising and the Los Angeles Valiant had the fans on the edge of their seats, wondering if the Boston Hype Train would finally derail. Unfortunately for Los Angeles fans, the Boston winning record doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon, as they once more claimed victory in the Overwatch League. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.

The first map, Temple of Anubis, saw Boston get off to a great early start. Overcoming the LA defence, Boston secured the first point and moved to begin their assault on the second, where they encountered tough resistance. Despite their best efforts, Boston actually were unable to fully overcome the Valiant defence, only securing 77.6% of the zone before the time ran out. The attack from Los Angeles faced an uphill battle right from the get go, as Boston seemed determined not to let them gain anything. Though they were able to eventually capture the first point, they could not secure the second at all, leading to an early Boston victory.

The second map, Blizzard World, was a much more one-sided battle than the previous match. Boston again took the first attack, and managed to blitz the defence from Los Angeles to secure the first point with relative ease. Advancing the payload across the map, Boston were able to hit all the milestones, reaching the end of the course with time to spare. The attack from the Valiant was not as successful, as they found another uphill battle just to get on the point. Try as they might, Los Angeles could not secure the first point, again handing the map to Boston to give them an early 2-0 lead.

The third map, Nepal, was a much closer contest between these two teams. The first round was a titanic struggle, as both teams traded the point back and forth. In the end, the Valiant were able to claim the first round, with the final score reading 100% to 99%. The second round was another tight match, with the teams again trading the point in their struggle. This time, it was Boston who claimed the round, tying things up and setting a potential match point. The third round was much less of a struggle for the Valiant, as they quickly claimed and then held the point for the duration of the match. Boston proved unable to retake the point, leading to a Los Angeles victory and setting the series score 2-1.

The fourth map, Route 66, saw the Valiant again flexing their muscles. Boston took first attack, and were able to advance the payload through the first two points before running head on into the Valiant defence. Ground down and stopped, Boston could not advance to the third point, setting up the line that Los Angeles needed to reach for victory. The Valiant attack was much more successful that before, as they pushed the payload through the first two checkpoints and approached the line of victory. Despite the best efforts from Boston, they could not stop the Valiant from reaching the required distance, setting up a final map showdown between these two teams.

The fifth and final map, Oasis, was another close showdown between these two teams. The first round was fierce, as both teams looked for an early advantage. Despite spending a significant amount of time on the point, Los Angeles could not hold it tight enough to secure the win, capping out at 46% before the round was ultimately won by Boston. The second round saw Los Angeles redouble their efforts, this time managing to squeak out a win despite Boston reaching 99% capture percentage. The final round came down to the wire, as both teams found themselves locked into 99%. The final struggle would ultimately go to Boston, as they barely managed to hold Los Angeles off the point long enough to claim victory.
