RESULTS: London Spitfire Find Victory over San Francisco Shock

Despite their recent roster situations, the London Spitfire have managed to claim victory over the San Francisco Shock today. A tough match that went the distance, it would take the full five available rounds for the winner to be decided in this contest. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.

The first map, Blizzard World, saw London take their attack first. The defense from San Francisco was extremely strong on the first point, preventing London from accomplishing anything for some time. Eventually London were able to get on the point, but were only able to secure 89.1%, leaving an opening for the Shock to exploit. The attack from San Francisco was also plagued with troubles, as they too struggled to find a way through the London defense. As the clock slowly ran out, London were able to hold of the Shock enough that they picked up the map win purely on percentage captured.

The second map, Hanamura, featured a much stronger attack from London to start things off. Able to bypass the defense from the Shock with ease, London swiftly captured the first point before moving on and capturing the second, with over three minutes remaining on the clock. The attack from San Francisco was less successful, as though they were able to secure the first point, the defense from London on the second point proved too strong, with the Shock only able to reach 66.7% before the time ran out.

The third map, Oasis, was the turning point for San Francisco. The first round would go to the Shock, as they managed to keep London down to 58% before securing the point for themselves. The second round in turn went to London, as they secured the point while San Francisco could only capture 63%. The third and final round would end up in San Francisco’s favor, as they managed to scrape the win despite London reaching 99%.

The fourth map, Dorado, was another close battle between these two teams. London had the first attack, and despite the best efforts of the Shock defense, managed to advance the payload across the map and reach the final checkpoint, though with very little time to spare. The San Francisco attack was likewise successful, as they too pushed the payload through the course to reach the end of the map with some time to spare. With overtime now the deciding factor, London again launched their attack, but this time found themselves blocked off before reaching the first point. The second attack from the Shock was more successful, as though they ran out of time they were able to reach the required distance and claim the map win, setting up a final map decider.

The fifth and final map, Nepal, seemed to be the catalyst for London to kick things into gear once more. The first round would go to London, taking the point from the Shock when they had reached 49% to claim the round win. The second round was similarly successful for London, as despite San Francisco securing the round first, they were only able to reach 69% before being pushed back, allowing London to secure the round and claim the series win.
