RESULTS: New York Excelsior Take Down Seoul Dynasty
By Zac Cameron ·
The clash of titans in the Overwatch League has ended with New York claiming victory against Seoul in a dominant fashion.

While some matches were close, others were less so as the New York Excelsior claimed victory against the Seoul Dynasty for the second match of the Overwatch League today. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.
The first map, King’s Row, saw New York make their attack first. After a tough initial battle, New York were able to secure the first point and begin to push the payload through the map. The skirmishes continued as New York attempted to bypass the defenses from Seoul, before finally reaching the second checkpoint. On their approach to the third checkpoint, New York were finally stopped by Seoul, forced to concede control just meters away from the end of the map. The attack from Seoul was just as strong, but didn’t produce the same results in the end. After capturing the first point, Seoul began to move the payload through the map. The battles as they rounded chokepoints near the second checkpoint became much closer and fiercer, before New York were able to dislodge Seoul from the area and claim victory.
The second map, Horizon Lunar Colony, was a dominating performance from New York. Making their attack first, New York managed to swiftly secure the first point, and kept their momentum flowing as they eliminated Seoul and secured the second point with plenty of time in the bank. The attack from Seoul was extremely lackluster by comparison, as they were repeatedly rebuffed from the point by the New York defense. As the clock ran down, Seoul was forced to concede the point as they failed to secure the first checkpoint.
The third map, Lijiang Tower, was another dominating performance from New York. Securing the first point from the start, New York prevented Seoul from claiming any time on the objective, gaining an early lead in the match. The second round also went to New York, though at least this time Seoul was able to spend some quality time on the point, reaching 99% before losing control in the end.
The fourth map, Watchpoint: Gibraltar, was a much closer contest between these two teams. New York took their attack first, and were able to advance the payload through the first checkpoint despite the strong defense from Seoul. The rolling team fight continued to expand as both teams looked for positioning, though New York were still able to advance the payload through the second point. New York would eventually push the payload to the end of the map, ending the round with a little time left on the clock. The attack from Seoul was similarly successful, as they too battled through the tough defensive line from New York to advance the payload across the map. Though Seoul would also be able to reach the end of the map, they did so in overtime, setting up a very quick rematch between these two teams. Seoul went first, having just a minute to advance the payload as fast as they could. Seoul could only proceed so far before being stopped by New York, setting up an easy mark to reach on their own attack. New York’s second push was able to bypass a lot of the issues Seoul faced, and after wiping the team, New York were able to reach the required distance to claim the map and series 4-0.
