RESULTS: New York Extend Winning Streak over Shanghai
By Zac Cameron ·
Claiming another victory to extend their lead in the Overwatch League, the New York Excelsior have defeated the Shanghai Dragons once again.

As the top teams continue to distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack, the New York Excelsior have once again taken down the Shanghai Dragons to extend their lead in the Overwatch League. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.
The first map, Blizzard World, saw Shanghai make their attack first. After a tough initial battle, the Dragons were able to secure the first checkpoint and begin moving the payload through the map. They would prove unable to reach the second checkpoint however, as the New York defence redoubled their efforts to keep them back. The attack from New York had more luck, as they were able to bypass the defence from Shanghai and secure the first point. The Excelsior were able to keep their momentum moving, and managed to advance the payload the required distance with some time left to spare.
The second map, Horizon Lunar Colony, again saw Shanghai make their initial attack with some success. Though the Dragons were able to secure the first checkpoint, they were unable to make any progress on the second, leaving an easy mark for New York to reach. The attack from the Excelsior was swift and efficient, as they bypassed much of Shanghai’s defence to secure the first point, before moving to secure the required amount of the second point with plenty of time to spare, setting up a 2 map lead.
The third map, Oasis, saw a dominating performance from New York to start things off. The first round saw New York secure the point first, and hold it for the duration of the round while Shanghai struggled to contest. The second round was much closer, with the Dragons reaching 99% after winning several team fights, though ultimately New York were able to recapture the point and close out the round to claim an early series win.
The fourth map, Dorado, told a similar tale as the other clashes. The Dragons were able to push the payload through the first checkpoint despite a strong defence from New York, before becoming bogged down on their way to the second point. Try as they might, Shanghai could not reach the second checkpoint, forced back by the New York defensive line. The attack from New York was again swift, as they advanced the payload through the first checkpoint with relative ease. Though Shanghai tried their best to hold them off, New York proved too strong in their attack, advancing the payload the required distance with minutes to spare.
