Overwatch League Match Recaps Day 3, Week 5, Stage 4

With the conclusion of today, there’s just one more day of the regular season in the Overwatch League’s inaugural season. The playoffs have basically been locked in, and the teams must now just take every opportunity they have to show their strength and improve their gameplay before the quote un-quote “Main Event” kicks off. Here’s a brief breakdown of the games from Day 3 of Week 5, Stage 4.

Houston Outlaws vs New York Excelsior

The first match of the day was a showstopper, with the Outlaws taking the fight to New York in style. The first map went to the Outlaws in a dominating early performance, however New York were quick to fire back and claim the second. The third went to Houston once again, though it was a tight fight, before New York finally turned up the heat and cleared a path to victory to claim the next two maps back to back.

Los Angeles Gladiators vs Seoul Dynasty

Seoul managed to claim victory for the first map, giving hope to their fans that they had turned their recent misfortunes around at last. Unfortunately, that feeling didn’t last too long, as the Gladiators were quick to shut them down on the remaining maps with relative ease, showcasing the strength they’ve been building over the course of the season as they’ve risen to the top. For Seoul, I’m afraid to say that this is likely the end of the road for this current line-up.

Dallas Fuel vs Los Angeles Valiant

The Dallas Fuel are on fire this stage, rightfully claiming the wins that their fans expected of them from the start of the season. The Los Angeles Valiant may have been on a roll this stage, but it’s quickly apparent that Dallas were the better team when it came to adapting to the recent changes, as they claimed yet another 3-1 victory here today. This won’t be the last we see of either team, and with their skill level, that’s a good thing overall.

With the third day wrapped up, we’re down to just one more day of regular competition before the Stage 4 playoffs, and then the seasonal playoffs.
