Overwatch Community Raises $12.7 Million in Cancer Research Thanks To Pink Mercy
By Zac Cameron ·
The community rally behind the drive has raised an astonishing $12.7 Million dollars in funding through the sales of the Pink Mercy skin.

The final tally for the Pink Mercy charity campaign has been revealed, with the community gathering together to raise more than $12.7 Million dollars for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This charity campaign by Blizzard Games is set to be the largest donation by a corporate partner within one year in the 25 year history of the BCRF thanks to the outpouring of community support.
In addition to the in-game charity skin, players also shelled out for thousands of limited edition Pink Mercy T-shirts for both men and women, featuring designs by noted community artist VICKISIGH. Furthermore, charity streams set up to support the event raised an additional $130,000 in donations through 14 different Overwatch community streams.

The BCRF leadership made the journey to Blizzard headquarters to celebrate the success of the event and accept the donation during a special presentation by the Overwatch Team, led by Overwatch Game Director and Blizzard Vice President Jeff Kaplan.
As outlined in this comment by user horrible_jokes on the Reddit thread about the fundraiser, the amount raised during this event is a very significant boost to the overall funding of the BCRF, with the overall funding for the BCRF last year reaching $70 Million USD, making this single donation of $12.7 Million just under 20% of their total funding in just two weeks.
