London Spitfire Prevail Over Los Angeles Gladiators to Advance to Semi-Finals

After a tough overall series over the last few days, the London Spitfire have bounced back from an early defeat to ultimately claim victory in their quarterfinals showdown with the Los Angeles Gladiators. Though the Gladiators held the early lead, London’s skill and determination allowed them to return to the dominant form we saw earlier in the season and claim victory here today. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.

Series Two

The first map, Dorado, saw London nearly force their way to the end of the course in the face of a tough Los Angeles defense. The attack from the Gladiators was not as successful, as London proved their defense was just strong enough to win the first map. The second map, Oasis, put London in a commanding position for victory after they won both rounds with relative ease. Los Angeles could not get any time on the first point in the face of the London hold as they struggled to remain relevant in this series. The third and final map, Eichenwalde, was the key to victory for the London Spitfire as they advanced the payload through the course to reach the end with time to spare. The attack from Los Angeles was not as successful, as they failed to even capture the first point at all. With London’s victory, the bracket had effectively been reset, meaning that both teams needed to win the next series if they wanted to advance.

Series Three

The third series again saw London get off to a great start as they claimed victory on the first map, Junkertown. Los Angeles could not push past the defense of London, giving the Spitfire an early lead in this final series. The second map, Lijiang Tower, was the site of another victory for the London Spitfire, despite a strong performance from the Gladiators on the first round. The final map, King’s Row, seemed like it would be a close contest, however the London Spitfire were ready and waiting for any tricks the Gladiators may have had up their sleeves, ultimately winning the map in overtime.

With their victory here, the London Spitfire will advance to the semi-finals where they will face off against the Los Angeles Valiant.
