All eyes from the esports industry and beyond will be keeping a watch on whether or not the Philadelphia Fusion or the London Spitfire are able to finish off their impressive playoff runs with a championship in the Grand Finals, as it will be the finishing touch for the first season of Blizzard Entertainment's esports venture for its popular first shooter of Overwatch that was the first to introduce a traditional professional sports format to the esports world with its city based teams.

The 2018 Grand Finals will be a tale of two underdog teams making their way past teams heavily favored against them to claim a spot in the first championship of the revolutionary esports league. The Philadelphia Fusion had to defeat the likes of the Boston Uprising and the most dominant team throughout the inaugural season in the New York Excelsior, while the London Spitfire had to claim victory against both the Los Angeles Gladiators and the Los Angeles Valiant to secure a spot in the Grand Finals.

While the Philadelphia Fusion and London Spitfire both had showed extremely impressive play throughout the first season and at times looked to be among the very best teams in the league, both teams had struggled to find consistent play throughout Stage 4 leading many to believe that they would not be able to stand up against the likes of the two Los Angeles teams and the New York Excelsior en route to the Grand Finals of the Overwatch League.

However, the London Spitfire and Philadelphia Fusion were able to play their best Overwatch of the season when it mattered most and now they will be looking to become the very first team to claim victory in the Overwatch League Grand Finals at the Barclays Center in New York City this weekend.
