Team Liquid Claim NA LCS Title

In a battle with everything on the line, Team Liquid have managed to completely shut down Cloud9 to claim their second consecutive NA LCS Title. With their back-to-back Championships, Team Liquid have secured their spot as the number one seed for the NA LCS, heading into the World Championships. Additionally, thanks to their Championship Points, 100 Thieves will also be heading to Worlds later this year. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.

Match One

The first match saw Team Liquid take an early lead thanks to their aggressive early movements. Controlling the neutral objectives allowed Team Liquid to build upon their early lead, though Cloud9 did well to make sure the lead never got too large. Over time, Cloud9 were able to turn the tide of the match, taking the lead for themselves, until a fateful clash at the Baron pit allowed Team Liquid to once again shoot forward in this match. Cloud9 could not hold back the defending champions, as they dove deep into their base to close out the first match of the series.

Match Two

The second match of the series saw Team Liquid again take an early lead thanks to their aggressive playstyle, however this time Cloud9 was not able to turn the tides of this match. Team Liquid seemed to have full control over every aspect of this game, dominating the neutral objectives and team fights to build an unassailable lead. Despite making some good decisions in later team fights, Cloud9 was too far behind to have an impact, as Team Liquid closed out the match and set up series point.

Match Three

The final match of the series again saw Team Liquid make aggressive early moves to secure their lead, while Cloud9 focused on building up the neutral objectives. Despite taking two early Dragons, Cloud9 fell further and further behind as Team Liquid continued to demonstrate superior fighting skills. Before long, Team Liquid also began to dominate the objective control, pushing Cloud9 further behind as they struggled to keep pace. The match wasn’t over quickly, but Team Liquid never seemed to lose control as they slowly ground down their opponents. In the end, Team Liquid secured their second consecutive Championship title in just three games.

With their victory today, Team Liquid are once again the NA LCS Champions, and will be heading to the World Championships as the number one seed. Thanks to championship points, 100 Thieves will be joining them, leaving the remaining spot to be contested in the regional gauntlet.
