Donald Faison Isn't Happy Epic Games Added His Scrubs Dance To Fortnite

Scrubs hasn’t aired for over eight years now but Donald Faison, the actor who plays Turk in the fantastic medical sitcom, isn’t happy with Epic Games. In Season 5 Episode 9, “My Half-Acre”, Turk auditions for Ted and the Janitor’s air band by performing an iconic dance routine that Scrubs fans will recognise from a mile away. It’s also seen fame as being the “default dance” in Fortnite though, as it’s been in Fortnite battle royale since the very start.

At a Scrubs cast reunion last weekend, the hostess asks Faison about the dance and if he’d perform it on stage. He adamantly refused before explaining that if fans want to see it, they can play Fortnite because they “jacked that sh*t!”. Bill Lawrence, executive producer on Scrubs interjected and explained that Epic Games did actually reach out to him before including the dance to enquire about the legality of it all. He said that it’s completely fine though because “it’s just a character dancing.”

Donald Faison wasn’t happy with that though: “I don’t get no money. That’s what y’all are thinking, right? Somebody got paid? No. No, I did not. Somebody stole that shit, and it’s not mine anymore.” The panel continued for a minute or so with the rest of the cast pretending they all got royalties from Epic for including the dance while Faison didn’t. They then moved on to talking about why the dance was included.

According to Faison and Lawrence, the dance was made up completely on the spot as Faison was late that day and hadn’t practiced or read the script. That’s a direct contradiction to the episode’s IMDB page though, as it explains that “some of the dance moves are taken directly from the “Poison” music video.” Either way, Epic isn’t directly making money off that dance specifically because it’s the only emote available in Fortnite without spending a penny.

In other Fortnite news, Ninja recently responded to the Reddit controversy about how he allegedly got a player banned.
