Fortnite Creative Mode Announced By Epic Games

Ever since Fortnite Battle Royale became popular, it’s no secret that players often compared it to Minecraft with the building mechanics. Epic Games has embraced it though by announcing Fortnite Creative, a brand new mode that will allow players to create custom worlds on their own private islands.

Initially leaked a few hours before the announcement, Epic Games has now released a trailer that you can watch above. It shows off how players can work together to create epic structures and buildings by placing down a plethora of assets like gas stations, warehouses, pylons… anything you can find in Fortnite Battle Royale can be placed down in this new Fortnite sandbox.

One aspect highlighted in the announcement trailer is the ability to create minigames that all your friends can enjoy. It shows off a square arena complete with Bouncers and Chillers, along with Speed Boosts placed on the floor. Each of the players are equipped with a Rocket Launcher, so it seems to be a simple minigame where the player with the most kills wins.

When is Fortnite Creative available? If you buy the Season 7 battle pass when the new season goes live tomorrow, December 6, then you can play Creative straight away. If you don’t pick up the battle pass, you’ll have to wait a week until December 13 before you can play.

In the earlier leak today, a video from Lachlan shows that each Creative server will be limited to 16 players. You can also fly, just like in Minecraft Creative, and there’s a “Memory Bar” which serves as a limit to how much stuff you can place in the world.

This is a turning point for Fortnite, as it becomes more of a platform for games, in the same ilk as Minecraft or Roblox. This is likely the huge announcement confirmed for The Game Awards that we wrote about last week, so we’re looking forward to jumping in as soon as Fortnite Creative is released tomorrow.
