Epic Games has officially announced that the Fortnite Infinity Blade sword has been vaulted.

The Fortnite Infinity Blade sword has caused plenty of controversy in the popular battle royale title of Fortnite ever since it was introduced into the game this past week. From being deemed way too powerful by the majority of the community for the abilities and strength it gives to players to being seen as ruining the North American Winter Royale $500,000 tournament Semi-Finals and Grand Finals, the Infinity Blade sword has not had many fans. However, Epic Games looks to have heard the feedback loud and clear, as the developer has announced that the Fortnite Infinity Blade sword has been vaulted.

The official announcement of the weapon being removed came by the way of the battle royale title's official Twitter account on Friday, December 14th much to the relief of the community who saw the Mythic weapon as ruining the experience of the game from its introduction.
"Heya folks, We messed up and rolled out the Infinity Blade overpowered / without good counters, especially in the end game," said Epic Games. "The Infinity Blade has been Vaulted and we are re-evaluating our approach to Mythic items. Thanks for calling us out on this!"
Heya folks,

We messed up and rolled out the Infinity Blade overpowered / without good counters, especially in the end game.
The Infinity Blade has been Vaulted and we are re-evaluating our approach to Mythic items.
Thanks for calling us out on this!
News of the Fortnite Infinity Blade being vaulted comes one day after Epic Games had announced that the recently added Mythic weapon would have a nerf applied to it in the upcoming 7.10 update that would remove the ability for players to build and harvest materials with it. However, with this nerf still not satisfying the majority of the game's community, it seems that Epic Games decided that having the sword vaulted would be the best option going forward.
It remains to be seen if the vaulted Fortnite Infinity Blade sword will remain in the battle royale title's vault forever or if it might make a return as other vaulted weapons have done in the past, such as the Guided Missile.
