Marvel Games Adds A 4 To Its Twitter Logo, And The FGC Has Questions
By Jason Fanelli ·
A simple change to Marvel Games' official logo on Twitter has set off wild speculation about what it could mean, including the return of a longtime FGC franchise.

The official Marvel Games Twitter account has made an interesting change to its profile picture, one that’s led some to believe that a fighting game community favorite will be making its way back into the limelight.
The change to the new logo is subtle at first, somewhat easy to overlook, but as you’ll see below one of the letters in the words “Marvel Games” has been changed:
Yup, that’s the number 4. No real reason for the change has been given officially, and if this were promoting the recent reveal of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 at The Game Awards last month then we’d see the number 3. It’s an odd change to make without a reasoning behind it, but for now Marvel has been mum on the subject.
So what gives? Why would Marvel Games throw a curveball like this at us? A few theories have been raised, such a new and currently unknown Fantastic Four related project, as well as this potentially referencing the new mobile venture between Marvel Games and former Blizzard developers. As those former Blizzard devs were specifically Hearthstone devs, perhaps a new Marvel card game is in the works.
However, there’s one more “four” that Marvel could be teasing here, and for the fighting game community it’s a big one: Marvel vs Capcom 4. You may recall a rumor that ran roughshod through the gaming community back in October where Marvel vs Capcom Infinite would receive a massive update and an official rebrand to Marvel vs Capcom 4. Maximilian Dood though it credible enough to do a brief video about it on his YouTube channel:
If that rumor is true behind the scenes, Marvel Games could be on the cusp of blowing the whole thing wide open. The FGC section of the industry would ignite either with excitement for a brand new game or trepidation over a patch to what some consider one of the most disappointing fighting games in a long time. This would have to be a pretty extensive re-work in order to win back the fans -- and the EVO selection committee. This logo change alone has generated some reaction across Twitter:

Worth saying that the official @MarvelGames Twitter account has that as its profile pic. That Infinite update that rebrands it as Marvel Vs. Capcom 4 would be a nice start to 2019.

This logo change could be just getting our hopes up for no reason, crushing our dreams of a new Marvel vs Capcom. It could also be the dawning of the next huge era for the franchise. All we can do is wait and see, while of course asking the eternal question...
