Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter Shows New Official Render of Shao Kahn

There have been a ton of iconic big baddies in fighting games, like M. Bison to Geese Howard. Very few hold a candle to one of the original big bads, Shao Kahn. Mortal Kombat 11 dropped a bomb on the FGC by announcing the Ruler of Outworld as the official pre-order bonus DLC character via one of the first trailers for the game. Today, we get a closer look at Shao Kahn, courtesy of the Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter account:

Not much has changed, but there are some noticeable differences between Kahn's past looks and this one. We see more of Kahn's face than we have in some time, and he loses spikes on one side of his shoulder pads. His armor also features much more gold than previous incarnations, including a new, golden ornament on his headpiece. His trademark hammer is still in play and will be sure to be used to bash in his opponent's faces when the game finally releases.

This teaser image comes just ten days before an official Mortal Kombat 11 community event. You may have seen members of the FGC posting images on social media of their invites to the event. The event will be streamed live on January 17 at 2PM EST/11AM PST on NetherRealm's official Twitch channel.  For more information on the MK11 reveal event, visit the official event FAQ page.

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in a few weeks, won’t we? Speaking of Twitter news, check out this cryptic message from Marvel’s official Twitter account featuring the number 4. Could it be a tease of Marvel vs. Capcom 4? Or is something related to the Fantastic 4 in the works?
