By Nicholas Barth ·
Popular Twitch streamer and former Overwatch League player xQc recently gave his thoughts on the discussion of women in esports following the controversy surrounding fake Overwatch player Ellie.

Félix "xQc" Lengyel is known most for being one of the most popular streamers on the platform of Twitch and a former Overwatch League player for the Dallas Fuel. With xQc having been at the center of a few controversial moments himself during his career, many viewers were interested to see the player's take on the Overwatch Contender's controversy surrounding the former Second Wind player of Ellie who was discovered to not be female and was indeed a male player by the name of Punisher who had faked the persona of Ellie as a "social experiment".
During a recent stream, xQc gave his opinion on female players in esports while watching a video from top YouTuber Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg that was addressing the Overwatch Contenders Ellie controversy that rocked the professional Overwatch community.
According to xQc, the issue is not that there is not enough female players in professional gaming but that the community "bottlenecks" them and does not allow them to advance further in the world of esports. The streamer went on to cite that the culture of gamers is what is behind this stagnant state that many female esports players find themselves in that does not allow them to move forward and thrive.
The Twitch streamer and popular Overwatch player of xQc concluded his thoughts regarding the discussion of females in esports by stating that people who over include female players based on the argument that there are not enough female players in esports cause the opposite effect of what they are trying to accomplish to occur.
