LEC Results For The Opening Week
By Zac Cameron ·
All the action as the LEC kicked off their League of Legends campaign for 2019.

The LEC (formerly the EU LCS) has kicked off for another year, and we’ve already seen some very surprising games. A lot of the teams have made various roster changes in the off-season, so it’s time to take a look at which teams managed to come out on top, and which teams still need to work on their game plan.
Fnatic vs SK Gaming
What a doozy this match ended up being. First game of the season and we’re forced into a remake for technical difficulties. At least the newer fans will now have a taste of what it was like in the bad old days. SK Gaming managed to pull out the win in the end, somehow going 2-0 in a best-of-one game to start their year strong. Guess they are a team to watch out for after all.
Splyce vs excel Esports
What can we really say about this match? Not many people thought XL was going to come out on top, but at least they showed some fight in the early to mid-game, securing plenty of objectives before Splyce pulled themselves together. If they can fix their late-game problems, they might end up faring pretty well this year.
Team Vitality vs Schalke 04
Uh-oh, second upset of the day alarm. Maybe everyone just rated Vitality a bit too high after their excellent performance at the 2018 World Championships, but to be fair to Schalke, they aren’t a bad team. Good, solid players in most roles means they should never be discounted, plus they have that hunger to improve on last years results driving them. Definitely a team to keep an eye on, but I want to see them take on some of the other strong teams, like Misfits and G2.
Rogue vs Misfits Gaming
Yeah, who could have predicted that the new Misfits super-team would do well. Rogue have a pretty good roster, and in previous years could maybe even make a play for a top three finish, but against this Misfits roster… AD Carry fans will absolutely love this match, especially the Draven mains out there. Turns out having a pretty beefy frontline that can easily engage the enemy team makes it easy for Draven to pick up some early kills and snowball the lane.
Origen vs G2 Esports
Here we are, the last game of the day and our personal match to watch. Well, it turns out that G2 Esports is still a monster team, and adding Caps only makes them stronger. Putting former mid-laner Perkz on a mid-lane mage seems almost like they’re cheating, but then G2 did always position themselves as the “villains” of the league, so it’s fitting in the end. All things considered, Origen can certainly do better than this, it’s just going to take a little time most likely.
With the first day of competition out of the way, we’re given a bit of breathing space before we pick things up again tomorrow. Let us know in the comments below which game you found the most enjoyable to watch.
