Super Smash Bros Version 2.0.0 Patch Live, Piranha Plant Unlocked
By Jason Fanelli ·
The Version 2.0.0 patch for Super Smash Bros Ultimate is now available, with the update not only unlocking the first downloadable fighter in Piranha Plant but also bringing a ton of adjustments to all 74 characters.

Fans of Super Smash Bros will be finding a whole new way to play the next time they boot up the latest installment, as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now in Version 2.0.0 after the latest patch was pushed out Tuesday evening.
The patch unlocks the first new downloadable addition to the roster Piranha Plant for those who redeemed their codes. As no official word was given from Nintendo when this character would be available, his unlocking coming from a random system update patch is a neat little surprise.
The 2.0.0 also includes a myriad of changes to each of the 74 characters on the roster, with a massive set of patch notes available to read on Nintendo’s website. Normally patch notes of this detali are not Nintendo’s cup of tea, so seeing them written out and easy to follow like this has brought plenty of happy reactions from the community:

this is bliss
Some of the more notable adjustments in the early going are Incineroar’s increased movement on his Up special move, shortened range for King K Rool’s Up special, and nine adjustments to Rosalina and Luma. We’re interested to see how the community reacts to these buffs and nerfs, and more importantly how it affects the competitive scene going forward.
