Overwatch Hero Baptiste Revealed & Coming Soon

Overwatch has certainly been stacking its roster between the likes of Hammond and his Wrecking Ball mech and the support class certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Zenyatta being a heavy fixture in the likes of Overwatch League. That said, a new hero is coming to the Support line-up and he’s bringing as many shotgun shells as healing to the battlefield. Say hello to new Overwatch Hero and Combat Medic Baptiste.

Baptiste was announced on Overwatch’s YouTube and Twitter on February 25, 2019. An orgin story video showcases the character as a surviving orphan of the Omnic War. Baptiste took up both weaponry and bandages to help his friends and punish his enemies, seemingly taking his own part in war as well. Ultimately, coming from a conflicted past, Baptiste chooses to better his world. “For some, that means a bandage. For others… a bullet,” the hero claims. You can check out the video in full below.

Although no gameplay video was shown in the reveal of Baptiste, his role as an offensive support appears to be pretty clear. He packs a gun (which looks a lot like a combat shotgun by the drum magazine), as well as a capsule of healing supply. Although Overwatch supports don’t exactly lack for offensive capability between the likes of Zenyatta and his orbs and Moira with her offensive and also healing Biotic grasp, Baptiste is looking to be one of the most blatantly aggressive supports to join the Overwatch roster. It will be interesting to see what his abilities and capabilities look like when finally showcased.

Did you watch Overwatch League last weekend? Then maybe you saw the historic moment when the Shanghai Dragons finally scored their first win in Overwatch League year 2. What will Baptiste bring to the competition? We’ll see soon enough.
