FaZe Cloak Explains the Problem of Fortnite World Cup Practice
By Nicholas Barth ·
FaZe Clan professional Fortnite player Cloak recently explained the problem with getting high-quality practice for the upcoming Fortnite World Cup competition.

Next week will see the beginning of the 10 weekly Online Open qualifiers for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup where a total of $10,000,000 will be up for grabs for those who are able to perform well and qualify for the $30,000,000 Fortnite World Cup Finals in New York City. However, the recent v8.20 update for Fortnite, the forcing of players to play on native resolution for competitive events, and the battle royale title's history of changing itself drastically before high-profile competitive tournaments has left many competitive players very upset and frustrated with developer Epic Games in regards to being able to get high-quality practice for the $40,000,000 event.
This issue of not being able to get worthwhile practice for the Fortnite World Cup was explained in detail by Dennis "Cloak" Lepore of FaZe Clan who is one of the most accomplished professional Fortnite players in the battle royale game's young life.
While discussing the issue of Epic Games making large scale changes to the title right before it hosts the largest esports event in history in terms of prize money with fellow Twitch streamer Timothy "TimTheTatman" Betar, FaZe Cloak explained how getting productive practice is virtually impossible with the expected implementation of multiple new Fortnite seasons throughout the entirety of the Fortnite World Cup tournament that will drastically change parts of the game.
"Qualifiers are 10 weeks, right? Three of the ten weeks are going to be on this meta, so you are going to have balls (The Baller vehicle). First of all, this meta is terrible. You are going to have people that are going to breeze by the World Cup by abusing balls and have a chance to qualify in the three weeks and then after the three weeks of the 10 weeks, it goes onto a new season," said FaZe Cloak.
So there is going to be a brand new map, brand new mobility, brand new everything for the last seven weeks of the qualifiers, right? And then the World Cup is played on the weekend," Cloak continued. "The week before the World Cup is a brand new season, so the World Cup is not played on this season. The World Cup isn't played on next season. It's played on the season after that, so you can't practice for anything."
With $40,000,000 on the line for players who are able to qualify for the Fortnite World Cup, competitors will be looking to get as much practice as possible in order to perform at a high level. However, as stated by FaZe Clan Fortnite player Cloak, the high volume of changes to the battle royale title that is highly likely to take place in the near future will have players playing a very different version of Fortnite throughout the same event and will make it difficult for players to know how they should practice.
