Fortnite Teases a Marvel Avengers Endgame Collab on Twitter

We're in the Endgame now, folks. Only a few days out from the release of the latest gigantic Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Fortnite has teased another collaboration with the franchise.

Fortnite Teases a Marvel Avengers Endgame Collab on Twitter

Very early this morning, the Fortnite twitter account tweeted out a photo of their iconic Brite Bomber holding Captain America’s shield from the Marvel Universe.

The message on the tweet simply reads “Whatever it takes. 4.25.19 #FortniteXAvengers” with the image.

This isn’t the first time that Fortnite has been on board the hype train leading up to a major Marvel movie release. Last year, around this exact time, Marvel released the Avengers: Infinity War film. With it, they released an in-game mode called Infinity Gauntlet. The game mode was a standard Fortnite solos mode, but with one major twist. Somewhere on the world sat the Infinity Gauntlet fully stocked with Infinity Stones. Equipping the gauntlet would transform the player into an epic nearly unbeatable (but melee-only) Thanos the Mad Titan.

The new tease, in line with the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame coming out this week, doesn’t show a whole lot. Fortnite has always been pretty great at putting together and launching unique and interesting content to their world.

A FortniteXAvengers event this week comes just a few days after Donald Mustard, the Creative Director of Epic Games, tweeted out a picture of Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. wearing a Fortnite t-shirt with the message “Looking good, see you soon! #TeamDowney”.

According to data-miners, there have been some updates to the code of the Infinity Gauntlet mode in the game's files with recent patches to Fortnite. This most likely means that come April 25th -- as the tweet suggests -- we will see the Avengers-themed mode return to the game.

Whether or not this is teasing a return of Thanos is something we will just have to wait to find out. The picture may confirm that we’re getting a similar mode, but with Captain America’s shield on the map instead of Thanos’ Gauntlet. Picking it up could change your character into Captain America, maybe, and you could then use his shield to frisbee at enemies.

At the very least, it could be that Epic Games and Marvel have teamed up to simply release a whole squad of Avenger’s themed skins in Fortnite. Even though it would be very exciting to see a game-mode or update to the Gauntlet-mode, Fornite would be missing out on a whole lot of dollars if they don’t finally bring Marvel-themed skins into the game.

This all comes at a time when Epic Games and Fortnite are hyping up and promoting their first-ever Fortnite World Cup, which has the competitive battle royale world enthralled at the scale and with the large prize pool.

What do you think the tease is? Will you be hopping back into Fortnite to check out whatever update is coming on the 25th?
