The Average Salary of an LCS Player is Very Impressive
By Nicholas Barth ·
The average salary for professional League of Legends players in the League Championship Series (LCS) was recently revealed to be highly lucrative.
The rise of the esports industry in recent years has seen the world of competitive gaming become a very lucrative area where players can earn hundreds of thousands of dollars competing at the highest level of their respective esports. This impressive earning potential for esports players was recently highlighted in a major fashion when LCS Commissioner Chris Greeley revealed the average of LCS players during GamesBeat Summit 2019.
How Much Money Do LCS Players Make?
According to a report by Avi Bhuiyan, LCS Commissioner Chris Greeley officially confirmed that the average salary of an LCS player was over $300,000.

Incredible how far the league has come since 2013! pic.twitter.com/vhCKxFAdpV
While this average could easily be inflated based on the salaries of the most popular players in the world of professional League of Legends, as teams must be able to pay these players salaries that compete with the amount of money they could be making streaming full-time, there is no doubt that this confirmation of an over $300,000 average salary for LCS players shows just how far the esports industry has grown in only a few years.
This average salary of these players is made even more impressive when it is compared to the fact that this was approximately the same salary that Major League Soccer players were earning in 2016, according to a report by ESPN's Tyler Erzberger.
The average salary of players in the LCS has been confirmed to be $300,000 by the league's commissioner.

This is equivalent to what the average salary in the @MLS was back in 2016.
Crazy. https://t.co/qB1TjnmrAE
However, one question that has arisen from the official confirmation of this highly lucrative average salary for professional League of Legends players in the LCS asks if this high salary amount is sustainable for the long haul. With the esports industry still in its infancy when compared to other professional sports across the world, some may see this high average salary at this stage of time in the world of professional gaming troublesome for the sustainability of esports going into the future.
