Tfue Sues FaZe Clan, Organization Officially Responds

The esports world was turned upside down on Monday, May 20th when the organization of FaZe Clan was caught in the middle of a major suing situation from one of its most popular members in Fortnite Battle Royale player Turner "Tfue" Tenney. This suing by Tfue focused on what the high-profile Twitch and YouTube personality's Attorney called an "oppressive" contract that allegedly is taking 80% of the earnings Tfue receives from branded videos on Twitch, YouTube, and social media while also taking half of his earnings from appearances and touring. In response to being sued by Tfue, FaZe Clan has issued an official statement responding to the lawsuit brought against it.

Original Story

Taking to its official Twitter account, FaZe Clan issued a public statement where it stated that it has only secured $60,000 from its partnership with Tfue and that Tfue has made millions of dollars as a member of FaZe Clan. The response also states that FaZe Clan has not taken any percentage of the earnings the Twitch personality has collected from various sources, which was echoed earlier in the day by organization Owner Ricky Banks" Banks.

While the public response by the organization states that all of the contracts it has with players have a maximum take of only 20% for the organization and 80% to the player, many members of the community were not very satisfied with the statement by the organization. The reasoning for this is that the Tfue sues FaZe Clan lawsuit focuses on the contract that the Fortnite player claims allow the organization to take 80% of the earnings he receives for branded videos on various platforms and not the topics that were addressed in the organization's statement to the Tfue sues FaZe Clan situation.

Many individuals also called out the esports organization for not publicly addressing the additional allegations that were made in the lawsuit. These accusations alleged the organization had pressured him to live in a house with other content creators, drink alcohol at an underage age, gamble illegally, and perform dangerous stunts for videos. The Tfue Sues FaZe Clan lawsuit also stated that the organization pressured an 11-year-old player and their family to lie about the player's age.

It remains to be seen what will come of the Tfue Sues FaZe Clan lawsuit when it is all said and done. However, it is very likely the results from this situation will have a major impact on the esports industry going forward when it comes to labor and contract issues.
