Perkz of G2 Esports Wants to Get Rid of Rift Rivals

The first official details for the 2019 Rift Rivals tournament between the top three teams in both the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) and the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) were recently revealed by Riot Games. However, Luka "Perkz" Perkovic, fresh off of his MSI 2019 championship victory with G2 Esports, recently explained why he feels that Riot Games should get rid of the Rift Rivals tournament going forward.

During a recent Twitch stream, Perkz was asked by a viewer if he cared about Rift Rivals. The star G2 Esports League of Legends player responded to the question from the viewer by explaining that he does not care much for the event and believes Riot Games should get rid of the tournament for future seasons.

"Honestly, I could not care any less about Rift Rivals. I don't really think this tournament has its place in such a stacked season already," said Perkz of G2 Esports. "I think Riot should remove Rift Rivals, and the fact that we actually have to fly to NA is like even worse in like a schedule where we already fly so much."

The issue of having to fly to North America for the 2019 edition of Rift Rivals comes from the decision by Riot Games to move this year's version of the tournament to North America in order to help lessen the burden of the European region when it comes to organizing and to allow Europe to have more time in preparing for its hosting of the 2019 League of Legends World Championship.

"Since hosting Worlds 2019 is a big responsibility with a lot of work falling on the host region, the EU team requested for NA to host Rift Rivals again this year," stated Riot Games in regards to the tournament being moved to North America.

Do you agree with Perkz of G2 Esports regarding the removal of Rift Rivals from the professional League of Legends season schedule or do you think that it is an event that should remain? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
