A Preview of the Call of Duty World League Atlanta Open - Group C
By Nicholas Barth ·
The CWL Atlanta Open is set to kick off this Friday and will consist of four groups of four teams from the Pro League. Who's set to butt heads in the opening volley? This time, we look at the competition in Group C.

The Call of Duty World League (CWL) Atlanta Open will begin this Friday, March 9th and runs until the 11th. 176 teams will be making their way to the Georgia World Congress Center to compete for the largest share of the $200,000 grand prize. 160 of these teams will have to make their way through the treacherous open bracket to make it to the group stage, which is where 16 teams from the CWL Pro League await. Group C for CWL Atlanta consists of OpTic Gaming, FaZe Clan, eRa Eternity and eUnited. Here is a short breakdown of teams heading into the third major LAN event of the Call of Duty: WWII season.
OpTic Gaming
One of the most popular and talented teams in professional Call of Duty, OpTic Gaming will be going into CWL Atlanta looking for their first LAN tournament championship of the Call of Duty: WWII season. The defending CWL champions placed 3rd at CWL Dallas and finished out of the top eight for CWL New Orleans. OpTic has had a strong performance in the Pro League, as they hold a record of 10-4 and finished 2nd behind Rise Nation in Division A. While these kinds of performances would satisfy many teams, the roster of Seth "Scump" Abner, Matthew "Formal" Piper, Iam "Crimsix" Porter and Damon "Karma" Barlow expect nothing less that LAN championships for themselves and will be going into CWL Atlanta determined to not go three straight LAN events without hoisting the trophy. With four of the most skilled players to ever play the game on their team, OpTic is always a threat to make a championship run at a moment's notice.
FaZe Clan
FaZe Clan is another storied organization in the world of professional Call of Duty and will be looking to take home a championship at CWL Atlanta. With a open bracket run to fourth place at CWL Dallas and a 7th to 8th place finish at CWL New Orleans, FaZe has shown that they are true threat to make deep runs at major LAN tournaments. The team finished with a 5-2 record in Division B of the Pro League to finish in 3rd place. With two Call of Duty World Champions in Dillon "Attach" Price and James "Replays" Crowder mixed with the talented Preston "Priestahh" Greiner and Thomas "ZooMaa" Paparatto, FaZe has the roster to compete with the best teams in the scene if they play up to their potential. FaZe will be looking for CWL Atlanta to be the event that catapults them into a season to remember from here on out.
eRa Eternity
The Call of Duty team for eRa Eternity has not seen a great deal of success or consistency in the Call of Duty: WWII season so far, as the team placed in the 49th to 64th range at CWL Dallas with one roster, while finishing in the 29th to 32nd range with a completely revamped roster at CWL New Orleans. Now onto their third different roster for CWL Atlanta, eRa Eternity will look to have their best LAN showing this season. Their current roster finished with a record of 5-9 and in 6th place for Divison B of the Pro League. With young talent in the way of Maurice "Fero" Henriquez leading eRa Eternity into CWL Atlanta, the organization will look to have their best event of Call of Duty: WWII.
eUnited
CWL Atlanta could be a rough tournament for the eUnited Call of Duty team, as one of their best players, James "Clayster" Eubanks, could miss the event due to personal reasons. However, the trio of Justin "SiLLY" Fargo-Palmer, Preston "Prestinni" Sanderson and Alec "Arcitys" Sanderson are all highly skilled players in their own right and should never be counted out of making a strong run at an event. The Call of Duty: WWII season has not been as successful as eUnited was looking for, as the team finished 5th to 6th at both CWL New Orleans and Dallas and finished with a record of 2-5 in Division B of the Pro League to finish in 7th place. CWL Atlanta could be the event that propels eUnited to an impressive rest of the season or it could add to what has been an already less than stellar season for the organization.
With multiple meta shifts, roster changes, and ruleset changes happening since CWL New Orleans, CWL Atlanta will be giving fans a very strong picture of the current professional Call of Duty landscape and where it could be heading for the rest of the season. OpTic Gaming, FaZe Clan, eRa Eternity and eUnited and a qualifying open bracket team will be looking to emerge out of Group C victorious.
