The three best teams from the North American LCS will face off against the three best teams from the European LEC starting on June 27th.

Full League of Legends Rift Rivals 2019 Schedule Revealed

The dust has settled from MSI 2019, the first-ever international competition in which a representative from North American met a team from Europe in the finals, making this year’s Rift Rivals -- a series that pits EU against NA -- a tad more meaningful. Today, Riot Games released the official schedule of the tournament.

Some, like G2 Esports’ Perkz, have voiced how meaningless Rift Rivals is in the modern version of competitive League of Legends. This is especially compounded by the fact that the MSI 2019 Finals saw the matchup between NA and EU on the biggest stage so far this year in LoL Esports.

However, it’s still very exciting when the top three teams from each region gather in support of their region (something teams have gotten better at during international tournaments) to face off against the opposition. In a world where EU and NA were rarely part of the conversation on the global League of Legends competition stage, Rift Rivals gave these two regions the opportunity to get more time in the limelight, as well as more practice against top-tier squads from other regions.

Last week, Riot Games officially announced the dates and format of Rift Rivals 2019, and today they gave us a look at the full schedule.

With teams like G2 Esports -- continuing their trend of competitive and fun energy -- and Team Liquid getting a chance to replay one another, the purpose behind the tournament seems pretty one-sided. North America would love to get some sort of revenge on Europe for that whooping they handed out at MSI.

Rift Rivals 2019 is taking place at the LCS Studios, in Los Angeles, California. The entire tournament can be watched on the Riot Games Twitch channel beginning on Thursday, June 27th.
