OpTic Gaming Lose First Game of the Summer Split to Cloud9
By Wyatt Fossett ·
The Green Wall has made quite the impression so far in the 2019 LCS Summer Split, but is that the real OpTic?

After strutting their way out of Week 2 of the Summer Split in the North American League of Legends Championship Series as the only undefeated team, OpTic Gaming had the lol world buzzing. Was this OpTic Gaming a completely changed team from previous splits?
Sitting atop the league for a brief moment, OpTic Gaming had 4 wins and 0 losses heading into Saturday’s matchup against Cloud9. They even managed to snag the top spot on our Week 2 LCS Power Rankings.
Unfortunately for OpTic and their fans, the four opponents they face in the first two weeks weren’t all that competitive, and many would call their undefeated record one of the easiest obtained in the history of the LCS.
Against Cloud9 on Saturday, OpTic Gaming would begin by looking like their undefeated selves, but the old OG quickly showed up.
There’s no denying that Cloud9 is an extra step up in caliber compared to the wins that OpTic Gaming has notched thus far in the Summer Split. And it showed today.
OpTic Gaming lost their match against Cloud9 in a rather expected fashion.
Now the question is, which of these two versions of OpTic Gaming will we see playing in the LCS moving forward after this loss. Will they rebound and continue playing hot? Or is this team composition for OG still who we thought they were before the Summer Split started?
Only time will tell. For all of the biggest news from the NA League of Legends Championship Series as it happens, make sure you check out our LCS hub.
