Sledgehammer Games Announce In-Game Rewards for Watching CWL Atlanta

Members of the competitive Call of Duty community have been calling for Sledgehammer Games to implement in-game items related to the Call of Duty World League, such as team camos or rewards for watching CWL broadcasts. With the success of this in-game reward system for viewers in other esports titles, such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rainbow Six Siege, the community has been frustrated that Call of Duty has not followed suit.

Sledgehammer Games have been listening to the complaints and have worked to add incentives for players who watch the CWL in the theater of the Headquarters space. The first implementation of these rewards was during CWL New Orleans, where players were rewarded one common supply drop and 500 social score for tuning in. Today, Sledgehammer Games announced on Twitter that the same reward is now available for the next 24 hours for CWL Atlanta.

Players must visit Major Howard in the Headquarters to recieve the order. They will then receive the in-game items once they have watched the event in the theater. Some fans have been critical of the rewards, as they are of a basic nature and only require players to watch the event for a brief period of time before completing the order, which has resulted in many players watching as little as possible before being able to leave and collect their reward.
While the reward system is not on the level of other esports, it is good to see Sledgehammer Games making an effort to listen to the community and employ in-game rewards for viewers of CWL Atlanta.
