The third place match will determine which of these two teams will gain the most seeding points possible, a useful boon when the teams inevitably start to look towards the World Championships later in the year.

EU LCS 3rd Place Match Preview – Splyce vs Team Vitality

The final week of the EU LCS is upon us, with the final four teams remaining to battle for whatever glory they are still able to attain. Splyce was a middle of the pack team for much of the season, before kicking themselves into gear towards the end of the split to attempt to gain better seeding heading into playoffs. Vitality, on the other hand, made an early play for the top of the ladder and quickly found themselves in possession of first place. Though they were not able to hold on to the spot for the entire split, they continued to contest the top of the ladder throughout the season.

The first time these two teams clashed, Vitality seemed to have full control of the match, winning the early game through their superior map rotations and objective control which allowed them to build a sizeable lead that they would hold onto for the duration of the game. Their second clash was a much closer affair, with the teams trading the lead back and forth multiple times. Vitality still had better control of the map, but Splyce were able to put up much more of a fight this time around, though their team fighting at the end proved to be inadequate in holding Vitality back.

This is the end of the line for both teams, with the winner taking home a boost in Championship Points, and the loser left to wonder what they could have done differently.
