Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale from Titanfall dev Respawn Entertainment and has released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Here's a rundown of all characters available in the game right now.

Respawn Entertainment had a heck of a weekend leading up to their latest game with influencers teasing it, but Apex Legends is here. Available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC now, you can download Apex Legends for free and jump in today. The game puts a twist on familiar battle royale conventions with character variety similar to Overwatch or Team Fortress 2. You may want to single in on a character or try them all, but we can help! Here’s a rundown of all the Legends available in the game now and a snapshot of what they can do.

Mirage

Mirage is a one-man magic show of orchestrated trickery. Those looking for an absolutely devious playstyle may have their match in the smirking deception that Mirage brings to the battlefield. Able to deploy various holographic mimics, you’ll always think twice about if it’s the real Mirage that you’re shooting. Once you think you’ve got the right target, Mirage may be coming at you from another angle while the one you shot disperses into nothing.

Tactical Ability: Psyche Out

Mirage deploys a single holographic decoy to confuse and distract foes. The decoy will run forward while Mirage moves freely. The nature of this ability makes it great for deploying through smoke or checking around corners for enemies looking to catch you off guard.

Passive Ability: Encore!

When Mirage is knocked down, he will cloak for a moment and deploy a decoy automatically to draw fire. His passive is great for tricking foes who don’t know he’s down for the count while he hopefully slinks away or awaits reinforcements.

Ultimate Ability: Vanishing Act

Mirage performs the ultimate illusion, deploying an array of decoys while he cloaks. Perfect for overwhelming enemies visually while Mirage moves into a new and deadly position or makes a clean getaway, this is one that will keep you on your toes if you think you’ve got the trickster cornered at last.

Bangalore

Bangalore will be your hard hitting straight-up offense character in Apex Legends. As a soldier, Bangalore aims to move quick and dish out damage with extreme prejudice. She can also use her smoke grenades to obscure her comrades or blind her enemies while her ultimate ability will call down a massive payload of artillery to wreak havoc on an area. Bangalore is a good standard for any player looking to move fast and fight aggressively.

Tactical Ability: Smoke Launcher

Just as implied, Bangalore will throw out several smoke pellets to create a smokescreen and obscure vision for herself and her comrades. Smoke Launcher is great for confusing foes or letting your allies escape under the cover it provides.

Passive Ability: Double Time

When Bangalore takes fire while sprinting, she’ll move faster for a short time, allowing better opportunity for escapes or to reposition and aggressively move on an enemy for counterattacks.

Ultimate Ability: Rolling Thunder

Bangalore will paint a spot and call down a barrage of artillery, dealing explosive damage in a slowly moving area of destruction. When you know enemies are clumped up and waiting for the picking, let them have it all at once and send them running. They'd better pray they're not running in the path of the destruction.

Caustic

Caustic is a noxious cloud of death moving through the battlefield. He has a lot of dedication to trapping areas and doing damage over time, making him a dangerous foe to handle if you aren’t watching out for sneakily placed gas traps. Those who enjoy a more passive playstyle or exerting control over a space of the field might find Caustic perfectly suited to their needs.

Tactical Ability: Nox Gas Trap

This is Caustic’s primary means of area control. The trap can be set and forgotten about in various chokepoints where enemies can trigger them by proximity and get caught for damage over time. They can also be used aggressively, activating if shot to either actively attack foes or create a wall of damage should they choose to pursue you.

Passive Ability: Nox Vision

With his eyes shielded from the deadly Nox smoke, Caustic can see enemies through the fog of his traps and grenades, making him perfectly suited to target and pick off struggling foes in his deadly traps or attack them through the smokescreen of his Nox gas.

Ultimate Ability: Nox Gas Grenade

Caustic will throw out a grenade, absolutely coating an area in his deadly gas. This can be used on the fly to set up smokescreens of area of effect damage and quickly kill the suffering enemies therein.

Pathfinder

Pathfinder is a quirky bot, but don’t let that fool you. He presents some of the ultimate tools in mobility and map awareness. From using his Grapple Hook to swing around the map, to discovering where the next ring will be, to creating traversal points for all allies to use, Pathfinder is built to be the fast-moving scout of a mobile player’s dreams.

Tactical Ability: Grappling Hook

Pathfinder whips out a grapple hook to either swing around or pull himself to objects he attaches it to. Pathfinder can use the Hook on buildings or environmental objects to reach areas other characters can’t or he can grab enemy players and sling himself towards them for an aggressive kill.

Passive Ability: Insider Knowledge

With this ability, Pathfinder will be the first to know where to go when the ring threatens to encroach. By scanning a survey beacon, Pathfinder reveals where the next ring and its radius will appear on the map, making it perfect to plan your next moves as cleanly as possible.

Ultimate Ability: Zipline Gun

All aboard Pathfinder’s ultimate! The zipline allows Pathfinder to create a swingable line from building to building or to the ground below, allowing for speedy traversal of areas. What’s more, anyone can use Pathfinder’s Ziplines once they’re set, getting everyone where they need to go in a hurry.

Lifeline

Those looking to play a support role on the team battlefields of Apex Legends need look little further than Lifeline. This combat medic comes ready with a bevy of tools and skills to help get allies back into the fight or arm them to the teeth for the coming battles. Whether you’re protecting allies, gearing them up, or laying down a little mercy killing yourself, Lifeline is well equipped to back up a squad and push them through to the finish.

Tactical Ability: D.O.C. Heal Drone

Lifeline has a deployable Drone of Compassion that will serve up some healing over time for all those within its operational field. It will allow Lifeline and her teammates to stay in the fight longer or dig in and hold a position.

Passive Ability: Combat Medic

As a Combat Medic, Lifeline is built to bring players back into the fight quickly. She has a 25% speed bonus with all healing items and can bring allies up from down status quicker than anyone else. Moreover, when she helps an ally, she will deploy a directional shield to protect herself and her patient from as much hard as possible.

Ultimate Ability: Care Package

Lifeline is a character that loves to give. With her ultimate, she calls down a drop pod stuffed with goods for the team. It can include defensive items, attachments, and other goodies to make sure that the team is prepared for whatever they come up against.

Gibraltar

If your desired Apex Legends game is the bulwark of your team, then you can’t do much better than Gibraltar. Defense is the name of the game with this mountain of a man. Gibraltar excels at both protecting himself and allies as they move forward on enemies. Between being able to deploy an energy shield, guarding himself with his personal shield, and more, Gibraltar is the character to go to when you want to be tough to knock down.

Tactical Ability: Dome of Protection

Gibraltar casts an energy shield over an area that will soak up fire for about 15 seconds. This one is perfect for holding down a position or giving Gibraltar’s allies some much needed refuge from enemy attacks.

Passive Ability: Gun Shield

Coming at Gibraltar head-on will prove to be a fatal mistake. When aiming down his sights, Gibraltar deploys a gun shield that will block enemy fire. This is perfect for advancing on a target aggressively while protecting himself for the most part.

Ultimate Ability: Defensive Bombardment

Sometimes offense is the best defense. With his ultimate ability, Gibraltar calls down a rain of mortar strikes on an area to destroy whatever lies within.  It won’t have as much area coverage as Bangalore’s Rolling Thunder, but any caught in the blast are going to be feeling it nonetheless.

Bloodhound

When finding your enemies before they find you is the name of the game, there’s no one better than Bloodhound. All of the Technological Tracker’s talents are built towards locating his enemies and outmaneuvering them for the good of the hunt. No one who runs from Bloodhound will stay hidden for long.

Tactical Ability: Eye of the Allfather

With this ability, Bloodhound can see all threats within a structure. It will briefly point out enemies, traps, and other indicators of their presence as you check for foes. Campers and defensive players had best beware being spotted by Bloodhound.

Passive Ability: Tracker

If you’ve been in the area, Bloodhound can tell. With his passive ability, Bloodhound can see the footprints left behind by enemies. Best be weary of where you step when Bloodhound is lurking in the area.

Ultimate Ability: Beast of the Hunt

Bloodhound won’t be denied the thrill of the kill. With his ultimate, he enhances his senses, marking targets and allowing him to move at high speed. Those who think they can just run won’t be able to escape Bloodhound once he’s in full stride with his eyes on you.

Wraith

Wraith is an enigma, harnessing dangerous technology to harness dimensions for herself and her teammates. It makes her a sly and deadly adversary in Apex Legends. Whether cloaking to move on you or escape you or opening portals to move entire teams to another area, Wraith has the powers to make herself and her allies difficult to pin down in intense situations.

Tactical Ability: Into the Void

Using her dimensional abilities, Wraith slips into void space, becoming almost invisible and safe from damage. Wraith can use this to get the drop on unwary foes or escape a losing firefight to flee to safety.

Passive Ability: Voices from the Void

A spectral voice will warn Wraith if danger is coming. This voice tells her the direction of incoming enemies, allowing her to either ready herself for fight or flight well ahead of time.

Ultimate Ability: Dimensional Rift

Wraith opens her bizarre world to her allies temporarily with her ultimate. This ability allows Wraith to open two gates in void space, allowing her and her team to instantly travel between the points for 60 seconds. Sanity may be shaken, but the time saved in such fast traversal might more than make up for it.

That’s all of the characters in Apex Legends for now, but rest-assured, when more come, you’ll find them here. Once you’re ready for the fight, be sure to check out our guide on how to download the game on Xbox Live, PS4, or PC.
