The champions of the tournament have been crowned, as a duo from the losers bracket was able to make an incredible run to claim the victory. Checkout the full breakdown of the finals in our recap article.

Original Story

The highly anticipated "Friday Fortnite" tournament being hosted by well known YouTuber Daniel "KEEMSTAR" Keem begins today at 4 PM EST (1pm PST, 9pm BST, 7am AEDT). KEEMSTAR's Fortnite Battle Royale tournament will feature a two versus format single elimination format, as the tournament will follow traditional UMG Fortnite rules. This means that each duo will join the oppossing team in a squads match and battle on their own to see which pair can collect the most kills in two matches, as the popular battle royale title does not currently have an option for players to create custom matches. If the two teams are tied in kills after two matches, a third match will be played to determine the winner.

The KEEMSTAR Fortnite tournament will not have a set centralized stream for viewers, but the majority of the competitors will likely be streaming their point of view on their respective channels. With massively popular YouTubers and Twitch streamers such as Logan Paul, 100 Thieves owner Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag, Team SoloMid's Ali "Myth" Kabanni, OpTic Gaming's Seth "Scump" Abner, NickMercs and many other high profile Fortnite content creators competing in the KEEMSTAR hosted event, there is no doubt that there will be thousands of viewers watching the KEEMSTAR Fortnite action unfold. There will be a total of 32 competitors taking part in the KEEMSTAR Fortnite tournament as 16 teams of two.

The KEEMSTAR tournament will be the second major competitive event for the popular battle royale title, as popular Twitch streamer Tyler "Ninja" Belvins hosted an event at the Esports Arena Las Vegas in Ninja Vegas '18 where a peak of 680,000 viewers tuned in to see the Fortnite esports action. Without a single stream for the event, it will be difficult to see if today's tournament will challenge the viewership numbers that Ninja Vegas '18 brought in, but with a vast array of popular content creators participating there is a strong possibility that the KEEMSTAR event could make a push to pass Ninja Vegas '18 in overall viewership.

The full bracket for the event can be found on UMG's website. You can catch multiple streams of a few of the competing players on our player point of view article for the event.
