PUBG Patch 22 Introduces Player Ranks, Map Selection, Skin Trade Up System
By Ford James ·
The latest PUBG patch notes detail some great additions to the game including a new ranked format for players, specific map selection and a way to trade in your unwanted cosmetics.

It wasn’t too long ago we saw PUBG patch #21 introduce the training mode, tukshai, MK47 Mutant and more great additions. PUBG Corp waste no time sitting around though as they’ve already launched patch #22. It’s not quite as hefty as its predecessor but there’s a number of fantastic features in this. Let’s have a look at the full PUBG patch notes.
Ranking System

For the first time ever, PUBG now has a system to rank players based on their performance and skill level. There’s eight ranks in total: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Master, Grandmaster. Each has their own points bracket and medal, pictured above.
To get a rank, you need to play 10 provisional matches. From there, you’ll get promoted and demoted depending on the points you earn or lose. There’s no mention of skill based matchmaking though, so it doesn’t look like you’ll be in matches against other people with the same rank. At least for the time being.
Map Selection

You can now select which specific map you want to play on. Previously, you had the option of choosing from Miramar & Erangel, or Sanhok. Now, Miramar and Erangel have been separated so if you only want to play in the desert mountains, now you can. Alternatively, if you don’t mind which map you play on, you can select Quick Play which will put you in the first available game.
Skin Trade Up

If you’ve got an inventory full of unwanted cosmetic items, you can now combine them and trade up to an item of the next tier. You need 10 items of the same tier to trade, along with some BP. The amount of BP is dependent on which tier you’re trading and the max tier is blue, though it could be increased in future.
There’s a plethora of bug fixes and UI changes in the game now too including a wheel picker for which healing item or throwable you want to select. You can find all of the PUBG patch notes here and if you missed the last patch, here’s where you can learn all about that. Also, the game has been leaked for PS4 via the Korean ratings board!
