League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Skins and Rift Update
By Wyatt Fossett ·
To help fans get into the competitive mood, and afford champions of the rift to both celebrate and support the upcoming Mid-Seasonal Invitational, Riot Games will be releasing skins and rift accents.

We’re only a week or so away from the beginning of the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational Play-in Stage in Vietnam, and Riot Games is bringing players as close to the action as they can.
We know all of the teams that will attend MSI 2019 to battle for regional pride and international glory and today we were given all of the information regarding the in-game celebration that League of Legends players will be able to enjoy during the big event.
Map Changes
One thing that Riot Games is usually pretty good at is bringing tiny things to celebrate big moments to the actual rift for players to see and enjoy during and for a short time after a large tournament. Alongside the latest "MSI patch 9.8", Riot will be releasing another in-game celebration for the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational.
The first of the rift changes are the MSI 2019 banners that will surround the spawn platforms on both sides of the map. It’s a small touch, but the flags look amazing and bring that extra flare to respawning and launching into the action.
Our big scary Baron Nashor is also getting a new outfit for the duration of the Mid-Season Invitational, and it looks a whole lot like the recent line-up of “Championship” skins mixed with the “Conqueror” motif Riot has been releasing for some champions. Somehow they managed to make this terrifying beast look even more menacing.

Lastly, and this is really cool, there will be a pedestal placed on the edge of the map in the Top-Lane of the rift. The lit stand sits in front of a new tall rock that will be placed along that top edge of the map. With the MSI logo emblazoned on the bottom rim of the stand, but for now, the pedestal sits empty.
Why you ask, is this new decoration incomplete? Riot Games has revealed that it will remain empty until an MSI 2019 champion is crowned where the winning team’s trophy will be placed on this pedestal for up to a month after the tournament concludes.
Conqueror Alistar
Another thing that Riot has also done in the past is leading their tournament prize pool open at the top end. The developers themselves put in a large stack (in the case of MSI 2019, it’s $250,000), and then they offer a promotional item in-game and add the proceeds from said item on top of the prize pool.
This year’s champion skin and ward are the Conquerer Alistar skin -- that continues the trend of Conqueror MSI skins -- and the MSI 2019 Ward Skin.
These items, along with a “fancy” loading screen border will be available in a bundle for 1845 RP (or 2137 RP if you do not already own Alistar). Alone, the Conqueror Alistar skin will cost players 975 RP. All of these items will be available from April 30th until June 11th, 2019.
25% of all Conqueror Alistar and MSI Ward sales will be added to the MSI 2019 Prize pool.
Team Icons
Along with the ability to support the tournament by purchasing a skin or ward, players will also have the ability to support their chosen team.
By purchasing in-game profile icons with the logo of your favorite team competing at MSI will grant them (the team) 50% of the revenue generated from the sale. Supporting the tournament and your favorite team has never been easier.
For now, we can continue building momentum towards the tournament, and save up those Riot Points. The MSI aesthetics and supporting shop items will be available come April 30th, 2019 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time.
