Riot Games Reveals League of Legends Fan Pass & Team Pass
By Wyatt Fossett ·
In an attempt to earn more revenue shares for professional League of Legends teams around the globe, the game will offer players "season pass" and rewards.

Today, Riot Games announced its plans to release a Team Pass and a Fan Pass for players of League of Legends to show their favor and earn in-game prizes for their adoration and playing.
There is a modern formula in gaming that provides players with the opportunity to earn more rewards in instances where they either play more or pay more. League of Legends, it seems, is going to try something similar out to see if that kind of incentive is a thing players may want or get excited by.
Due to some undisclosed reasons -- though we think it’s just a Western bias -- there will be two types of pass available to folks starting in-game on May 31st, 2019. As a bonus, 50% of the revenues of these pass sales will go directly to benefiting the teams and leagues involved.
Fan Pass
Launching in Brazil, Turkey, Latin America, Japan, and Oceania
The Fan Pass will afford players to earn extra in-game rewards by watching teams play from the particular regions specified above. The Fan Pass will be available for purchase in the game’s store starting on May 31st.
Fan Pass will be available in the store for 980RP and you’ll be able to earn icons, an emote, a ward skin, and a chroma for Dragonslayer Braum as well as Blue Essence, key fragments, and 2 Masterwork chests.
Team Pass
Launching in Europe and North America
Things will be a little bit different for fans in North America and Europe. The Team Passes in these two regions will be focused directly on specific teams. Pass holders will be able to select a certain team to support for the entirety of the Summer Split.
During the course of the split, players can earn team-specific rewards by watching their chosen squad’s games. Items include team-themed emotes, player icons, and even in-game ward skins.
Team Pass will be available in the store for 980 RP and you’ll be able to earn team icons, a team emote, a team ward skin, and an LCS or LEC chroma for Dragonslayer Braum as well as Blue Essence, key fragments, and 2 Masterwork chests.
“We think it’s important that, as our sport continues to grow, our leagues, teams, and players share in our combined success. We’re very excited about these launches and will be working to learn as much as possible about which aspects esports fans across the world value most as we look to expand in the future!” reads the blog post by Riot Games.
So, what do you think? Are you excited to support your favorite regions, and your favorite teams and earn some really cool Esports-themed items? Be sure to check the League of Legends client on May 31st to pick up your Team or Fan Pass.
