G2 Esports Play Full Trolls Against Team Vitality in LEC Wk2

The bonkers comp, the bm trolling at the end, and all that G2 Esports brought to the Rift on owner Ocelote's birthday.

G2 Esports Play Full Trolls Against Team Vitality in LEC Wk2

Straight out of the gate the crowd in Berlin planning on taking in an intense match between two professional League of Legends teams knew that something was going to be different. G2 Esports showed up on Saturday with the intention of having a goofy good time against a winless Team Vitality, and that’s exactly what they did.

The Team Comp

In his post-game interview with LEC host Laure Valee, G2’s Perkz said that “anything we play in solo queue we can play on stage” in regards to their odd composition from their matchup against Vitality.

Not only did Perkz pick Pyke at ad-carry -- a champion that three other members of the team have played in pro games thus far -- but the Yorick top-lane, Yuumi support, and Neko mid were all just as bonkers.

It's @CarlosR birthday today, Master of Fun and Entertainment.

So when my bot came to me and said 'hey we want to play Yuumi Pyke' I really couldn't argue against it.

Now if RIOT could make Pyke Jungle somewhat viable we could complete the quintuple flex. ?

During the draft, it was nearly impossible to judge where many of these champions would go once it was time to swap and lock-in. Hardest of all was the Pyke. Originally designed by Riot Games to be a support champion, members of G2 have had great success on the champion across the board including Wunder’s top-lane Pyke, Caps funnel-comp Pyke, and of course Mikyx on normal support Pyke.

As it turned out, it would be Perkz claiming the 4th spot in the “G2 players that can flex Pyke” list. Now, we’re just waiting on Jankos to play the pirate plunderer in the jungle and we’ll have a 5-way flex pick in the LEC.

Wunder Painter

With the new Pro View spectator mode introduced to the LCS this split, fans and viewers are given the opportunity to watch any match from any player’s point-of-view. Luckily for those watching G2’s top-laner during this trolling “fun game” you would have seen the MSI Champ pull up Microsoft Paint, and write “What is going on?” to troll the fans.

After the match, the analyst desk didn’t quite know whether or not opening another program like Paint is against the rules or not.

Happy Birthday Ocelote

After their performance at MSI 2019, G2 Esports’ owner Ocelote told Twin Galaxies that they have a “culture of taking s*** seriously” but they love to have fun and meme along the way. So, why would G2 Esports play a huge Cheese Comp on the mainstage where all of the wins and losses matter? Well, it is that goofy and clutch owner Ocelote’s birthday that brought out the meme squad.

Almost a Kill Per Minute

“That was a game of League of Legends,” said Drakos, LEC show host to intro the Post Game Lobby show.

In the end, this crazy team composition mixed extremely well with some very high spirits, and absolute late-game domination to bring G2 Esports their 4th straight win in the 2019 LEC Summer Split.

Everything was going so well near the conclusion of the match that G2 let the minions do the final bit of work on the enemy nexus, while the team huddled around Vitality’s fountain seeking more kills. When the game was finally over, the 2019 MSI Champions G2 Esports had 23 kills in 24 minutes of play.

At the end of the day, G2 Esports exit Week 2 with a perfect 4-0 record, memes or not. They’ve continued the dominance they displayed on the international stage at MSI 2019, and are seeking to claim their second LEC Championship in a row.
