What is the Format of MSI 2019?
The Play-In Stage consists of a few different stages in and of itself. 8 teams will play in a best-of-one double round-robin based on their groups assigned during the Play-In draw show (embedded above). The winner of each of these two groups will advance and will go into the Play-In Knockout Stage. Here they will meet one of the two Knockout seeded teams.
Team Liquid from the LCS, and the Flash Wolves from the LMS await the winners of this group stage. The winners between these two teams and the two that win out of the group stage will advance to the main group-stage at MSI. The losers will play each other and the winner of that game will also advance to Groups.
Those three groups will join the three teams that were seeded into the Group Stage. These teams are the European Champions in G2 Esports from the LEC, Korea’s SK Telecom T1, and the LPL’s Invictus Gaming (who won Worlds 2018 just a half-year ago).
These top-tier six will play each other once in a best-of-one double round-robin, and the bottom two teams of this stage will be eliminated. The top four teams from the group stage will advance to the final round of the Mid-Season Invitational.
Lastly, the Knockout-Stage will consist of these top four teams and will play a best-of-five bracket. The Champions will have to make their way through two best-of-five head-to-head battles.

The large time-zone difference between North America and the Taiwan/Vietnam regions means that all of the games will take place very early in the morning Pacific Time. Almost every play day begins at either 3:00 AM Pacific Time, or 12:00 AM Pacific Time. So it’s not going to be easy.
Where:
All of the action from the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational will be streamed live on the lolesports YouTube channel, or the Riot Games Twitch channel.
