In very good news, G2's prized support player Mikyx has been cleared to play assuming his wrists remain feeling good.

G2 Esports' Mikyx Has Been Cleared To Play at MSI 2019

G2 Esports left the comfort of Europe as the champions of the 2019 Spring Split, but there was a glaring neon sign hanging over their heads with the words “Mikyx Injury” written on it.

The superstar support Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle struggled through the entire split with some agressive wrist and arm injuries. These kept him from almost all of the team practices and scrims, and even had him sub out for some ofthe matches later in the regular season.

Mikyx’s questionable health status has been looming over the club as they gear up for their first real test as a newly built formidable squad. Playing against the world’s best teams is the only way to show the rest of the League of Legends pro universe that you are a remarkable team. It has been a long time since G2 Esports has been this good. In fact, this may be the toughest G2 team ever.

If it came to substituting in promisq in the place of Mikyx, their shot at MSI greatness would be in serious question, even if promisq can outplay Faker from SK Telecom T1 in an online solo queue game.

Today, G2 Esports posted their first vlog from Vietnam, and at the end of it Mikyx announced that he was cleared by medical to compete at MSI 2019 in both practice and on the main stage.

“Hey guys, I just decided that I will be playing tomorrow. Lately my hands have been feeling a lot better,” said Mikyx in the video.

Update From G2

G2 Esports’ Coah, Fabian “GrabbZ” Lohmann, posted an update on Twitter regarding the team’s roster at MSI.

We received a lot of questions around Mikyx/Promisq so just wanted to send out a short update.

“Since winning the inaugural LEC Split we have been open about Miky’s wrists injury and that G2 is not going to risk his health for MSI should his wrist issues continue. He traveled with the team to Korea but did not participate in any scrims but instead continued treatment and had additional medical check-ups.

The doctors gave him greenlight to participate in official matches and practice with the team to a degree where his discomfort does not increase. Since arriving in Hanoi he has resumed scrimming with the team, after which we feel confident in starting Miky for our games at MSI.

We will be monitoring his condition throughout the event and PromisQ will be ready to step up should Miky need to be rested.

We always made very clear that Miky will be our starting support if not held back by medical issues, even on low practice with the team, and we hope to count for your support during MSI.”

The chances that G2 Esports will make it out of the Group Stage at the MSI 2019 main event are pretty high with Mikyx on board.

Be sure to check out our guide on how to watch MSI 2019 before the action kicks off tomorrow morning (early for us Pacific Time people). G2’s first match is at 3:00 AM Pacific Time on May 10th against SK Telecom T1.
