After getting bumped out of the starting roster with the evolution of G2 in the off-season, Hjarnan has finally found another home in the LEC.

Excel Signs Former G2 Bot-Laner Petter 'Hjarnan' Freyschuss

Just a few days after Excel Esports announced the hiring of Head Coach DLim, and a pile of other changes to the team’s personnel, the LEC’s Excel has welcomed a new ad-carry to their ranks, and he's one that could very well help turn things around for the organization in the very near future.

Petter “Hjarnan” Freyschuss was the ad-carry for the G2 Esports team that went all the way to the semifinals at Worlds 2018 last year. This was, however, before the team evolved into their final form with the addition of Mikyx at support and Caps in the mid-lane, which shifted Perkz to ad-carry. That move would see Hjarnan pushed out of the organization, regardless of his stellar play.

Since his departure, Hjarnan has been playing with Ad Hoc Gaming of the ESL Meisterschaft league, where he and his squad placed 4th in the Spring Playoffs.

With only a split away, Hjarnan will now rejoing the League of Legends European Championship pro league, and his new team can really use the help.

“I’m really excited to be back in the LEC again and to help Excel improve on their first split at the top level in Europe. Being back with Kasing is great too, and I can’t wait to get playing as soon as possible.” said Hjarnan in a press release published by Excel.

Out of 10 teams in the LEC, the Excel Esports organization finished 9th in the 2019 Spring Split and could have very easily shaken up their entire roster. Currently, the squad that finished the split with 5 wins and 13 losses has a ton of extra names on their roster sheet. As of today, they have two of every role, and three bot-lane players including Hjarnan.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Hjarnan from Ad Hoc Gaming. He is a player with considerable talent and experience, and will be a key contributing factor as we look to build upon our first split in the LEC and push on for a higher finish this summer.” writes Joel Holmes-Darby, Director of Esports at Excel Esports.

With his considerably larger pool of experience on every size of stage, Hjarnan will most likely be poised to take the starting role come the kick-off of the 2019 Summer Split in Europe. Hjarnan also has previous expriernce playing in the bot lane with Excel support player kaSing when the two played for H2K back in 2015.

We’re excited to see what version of Excel Esports shows up come the beginning of the next split. For now, all eyes are on Hanoi, where the MSI 2019 Group Stage just kicked off.
