The azure hero of the future, Vegito Blue, arrives to Dragon Ball FighterZ! We've got some tips to harness the power of the Potara earrings and help you vanquish your foes!

The next two DLC characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ are finally here! Vegito Blue and Merged Zamasu come wielding their own unique and godly powers, but for this guide we’ll be focusing on the fusion of Goku and Vegeta. If you need some help with Merged Zamasu as well, check out the guide on the apprentice Supreme Kai here.

Vegito Blue seems to be a nice mix of Goku Blue and Vegeta Blue as far as moves are concerned, with a few flashes of his own individuality. Longtime fans of the series will be thrilled to see the number of nods to the manga and anime Vegito Blue possesses and fighting game fans will appreciate his versatility. Here are five quick tips to get you started.

But first, here’s a quick refresher on the button layout for Dragon Ball FighterZ:

The layout for PS4

The layout for Xbox One

Go To The Mighty Sword

Vegito’s Spirit Sword has been seen since his initial battle with Super Buu and it makes a number of appearances in Dragon Ball FighterZ. The move serves as Vegito’s launcher, (executed by pressing down and Ki) one of his Super attacks, and even comes in an aerial form. The aerial sword seems to build tons of meter, as evidenced by this combo courtesy of Twitter user Tanosimi. Obviously, we’re not asking you to be able to pull off a combo like this right off the bat, but what we are telling you to do is tailor combos to include this move since it generates resources so well.

Come On And Slam!

Vegito Blue possesses an aerial throw like Broly, which allows him to extend combos via an unbreakable throw during an air combo. Like Broly’s, there are tons of potential uses for this move, whether it is to extend combos, take yourself out of the corner (and put your opponent into it,) easily combo into Vegito’s Level 3 Super (as seen above) or more. You can also vanish after the throw to continue your combo even further. The possibilities are endless, so get into the lab and see what awesome combos you can come up with!

He’s Got Legs (And Knows How To Use Them)

Vegito’s also got his signature Cossack Dance attack in DBFZ, which can be used to extend combos even further, like we see in this combo video courtesy of Connor McBride on Twitter:

The legs can be performed by doing down, down+forward, forward + Light, Medium, or Heavy. The varying move strengths will give you different properties on your legs, so keep that in mind as you use them. The Medium legs will use your wall splat, meaning if you perform a move that would normally wall splat (such as your standing Heavy attack,) it won’t this time.

Help, I Need Somebody!

And not just anybody, we need Vegito Blue’s assist. Fans of the Dragon Ball series will recognize this move as the “Scatter Finger Beam” from the Super Buu fight. As far as assists go, VB’s certainly isn’t as good as Vegeta’s or Gotenks’, but it comes out fast, hits the entirety of the screen, and sees Vegito leave the battlefield quickly. All in all, it’s a pretty good assist that can help you snipe your opponent or even shut down their assist.

Feel The Power Of A Warrior

All in all, Vegito Blue is a very strong character that can slot into any role on your team. Fans of Goku, Bardock, Vegeta, and Adult Gohan should have no problem including Vegito Blue onto their teams in some capacity. Strong normals, specials, and supers, along with a familiar playstyle mean Vegito Blue will be a popular character, especially right off the bat. We recommend slotting Vegito into either the first (point) position or third (anchor) position based on his ability to generate meter, as well as his ability to use that meter.

Whichever route you prefer, we know you’ll have a blast playing Vegito Blue. Be sure to do the Trials, if not just for the Zeni that comes with it, but you might also pick up a thing or two about your new favorite character. We hope this guide serves as a foundation to help you develop your Vegito Blue playstyle, but after a certain point, we hope you’ll make the character your own. Now go out there and slay those gods, Saiyan!
