Closing out the year in spectacular fashion, WSOE 2: The Hearthstone Showdown saw sixteen of the top female Hearthstone players from around the world battling it out to determine who would walk away with not just bragging rights, but a cool $15,000 right before the Holiday period really kicks off. After a hard-fought event, Jia Aquino "Jia" Dee was able to walk away with the victory after taking down Cora "SongBird" Georgiou 3-2 in the Grand Final. Here’s a brief breakdown of her run through the event.

Jia started her run in Group C, which saw her win her first bout against Bloody in a quick 3-0 thanks to her Shaman deck. Her next fight against Edelweiss was not as successful, just barely losing 3-2 to set up an exciting decider match against Scarakye that she was able to claim victory in, 3-2 on the back of her Warlock deck.
Now in the playoffs, Jia had to contend with Teebs "Teebs" Auberdine, the winner of Group B. fortunately for Jia, her Druid deck had all the answers she needed to sweep this quarterfinal match 3-0, advancing her to the semifinals. Now with just a handful of games to advance to the Grand Finals, Jia managed to take down Slysssa 3-2 with her Paladin and Mage decks, putting her just one series away from the Grand Final prize.
The Grand Finals produced a tense series, with Jia claiming the first match against SongBird with her Druid deck. SongBird was able to pick up the next two wins with her Mage Deck, giving her match point, before Jia swung back with her Rogue Deck to claim the last two games and seal the deal. With her victory, Jia claimed not just the $15,000 first place prize, but also walked away with $2,000 in bonus prizes for claiming the Mad Banned and Clean Sweep awards. All that’s left now is for the competitors to sit back and relax over the holiday period, before 2019 comes rolling around.
