When it comes to Apex Legends, the game has already had its share of leaks since before launch, but a new thread going around on Reddit may have just clued us into the new Legend coming to the game. The matter is currently unconfirmed, but it very much appears we may be getting a high-speed, risk-reward character in the form of Octane.

On February 27, 2019, a new post simply titled Octane: Leak was posted and began to gain traction on the Apex Legends Subreddit. The post shows a small look of the so-called Octane and his character ability sheet. Notable is that this Octane character seems to regenerate health over time when undamaged, can injure himself slightly for a temporary speed boost, and can deploy a bounce pad for himself and allies to use (but also possibly enemies). You can see the ability layout below as well as a glimpse of the character.

The Apex Legends community has been hotly debating within the thread whether this leak is real or not, as a similar thread was posted mentioning Octane again on February 22. The image in the latest thread makes note of the previously teased Battle Pass from Respawn’s Year 1 content roadmap for Apex Legends. If it’s fake, many agree it’s one of the most well put-together fake leaks out there. Reddit user Oooch pointed out that the words “octane_preview” and “jumppads” appear in a Week 8 data within Apex Legends files.

Any unsubstantiated leaks and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, but this one comes packing more than a little evidence. Maybe Octane is who we should expect when Apex Legends starts getting its first season of major content updates in March.
