All the action as the teams of the NA LCS close out week 5 in the Summer Split.

We’ve reached the end of another weekend of games in the NA LCS, and we are still faced with a four-way tie for 1st place. It seems as though some of these teams have bounced back from poor performances yesterday, while others might want to go back to the drawing boards for now. Here’s a brief breakdown of the matches.

OpTic Gaming vs Cloud9

it seemed as though Cloud9 has a plan heading into this match, as they worked to secure a very early Dragon to gain an early lead. Unfortunately, OpTic’s plan proved to be a bit better in the end, as they cleaned house in every skirmish the teams faced. Showing a marked improvement from last split, OpTic easily secured the objectives they needed in order to win, setting Cloud9 back just a little bit more for now.

Flyquest vs 100 Thieves

Flyquest are on the move, and the only direction is up for this squad. After making their roster adjustments towards the end of last split and the beginning of this one, Flyquest has proven to be a strong competitor for the top spot in the NA LCS, pulling wins from teams that should be performing much better than them. Their match against 100 Thieves today was another example of this, as they claimed the lions share of the objectives and swiftly moved into a commanding position, picking up another easy victory.

Team Liquid vs CLG

Team Liquid may have suffered the past few weeks, but their performance today only proves that even when they stumble, they are still capable of achieving great things. Taking down CLG with relative ease, Team Liquid are looking to improve on their mistakes and finish out the split with strong performances as they seek to defend their title.

Clutch Gaming vs TSM

It seemed like Clutch Gaming would once again prove to be a thorn in TSM’s side, however a late game surge from the TSM squad allowed them to turn the tide of this game and rapidly establish a lead for themselves. After an excellent Baron steal from TSM jungler Jonathan "Grig" Armao and a team fight victory after catching Clutch Gaming by surprise, TSM were able to turn the match on its head and push towards victory, bringing their match totals to an even 5-5.

Golden Guardians vs Echo Fox

The last match of the day looked to go in favor of the Golden Guardians, however persistence and hard work allowed Echo Fox to turn this match around and pick up the win, retaining their place in the four-way tie for 1st. For a more detailed breakdown of this game, check out our recap here.

With week 5 now in the books, the positioning of the NA LCS looks no clearer than it did before. The teams are mostly clustered into two groups with equal win/loss records, with a few stragglers falling behind, however it’s not impossible for any team to somehow take the overall lead by the end of the split.
